Elstree Film School - Green Screen Training Courses - Complete (3 days)
Greenscreen is the art of filming an individual such as a presenter, interviewee, singer, actor or musician against a well-lit green background, and then removing this background using a video program like Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premiere and replacing it with something else - such as a virtual newsroom, a TV studio, a textured company branded background, a street scene or even outer space.
Video marketing on sites such as YouTube and Vimeo offer a cost effective way to promote a companys products and services and yet to date very few companies in the UK are using these greenscreen techniques to their full advantage. Our series of greenscreen training courses address the full application of these filming techniques in a jargon free and easy to understand manner.
Beginning with a comprehensive overview of the fundamental principles of greenscreen and Chroma key production and the equipment used in setting up a fully functional greenscreen studio, through a series of practical exercises in our own greenscreen studio facility to best learn the techniques involved, to a detailed examination and hands-on workshop using several of the most popular and versatile greenscreen plugins available in order to discover the most effective way to achieve a clean and convincing 'key' for your greenscreen footage.
In our Introduction to Green Screen training course we offer a detailed overview of the green screen filming process: from the equipment required to setup your own greenscreen studio, through the techniques involved in lighting your greenscreen and your subject separately, to which software programs and plugins are available for you to 'key' your greenscreen footage with a view to achieving the best result. Our one day introduction also includes: 2, 3, 4 and 5 point lighting principles for lighting your subject, the types of lighting available and what works best in what conditions, the different types of green screens available and how they compare with each other, how best to use consumer and prosumer DV and HD cameras to achieve suitably clean footage for green screen usage and many other unique tips, tricks and insider knowledge to ensure that you have at the conclusion of this course a comprehensive overview of how best to leverage the potential of a green screen studio setup in order to achieve high quality results on a minimal budget.
Our second day Green Screen training course offers a practical, hands-on workshop where you will be setting up a variety of different green screens and studio lights and comparing the results for their effectiveness and professionalism. A variety of green screen materials are tested as well as a selection of different types of studio lights: from the very cheapest lamps available to the more expensive units often used in TV and film productions. Conducted in our own privately owned green screen studio facility located near to Elstree Film Studios in St Albans, you will learn via a series of practical exercises exactly how to best setup and manage a green screen studio and how to achieve the best results possible at minimal expense.
Our third and final day of our Green Screen training course delves deeply into the world of green screen plugins, and how to achieve the very best keying results for your green screen film footage. Via detailed examinations of the three most popular programs used for this purpose, Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere, we will take you through a series of practical exercises using the native Chroma key plugins available for these three popular programs. In addition, we examine several of the more sophisticated commercially available plugins that offer finer control of the Chroma key process. At the conclusion of this course you will be fully prepared to import, key and export your video to YouTube or Vimeo and to achieve excellent and professional results comparable to those achieved on more expensive systems and setups.
With an ever increasing focus on the potential of video marketing for promoting a companys products and services, our Green Screen training course offers a concise and comprehensive overview of how best to master the dark art of Green Screen filming and how to achieve high quality Chroma key effects on a limited budget.
